Introducing Block Patterns
The Climate Change Defenders Program (CCDP) group, led by the IRO Organization and implemented in partnership with The Human Network, organized a multi-stakeholder event aimed at developing a practical roadmap for climate justice advocacy. The event brought together academics, environmentalists, and civil society leaders to examine the impacts of climate change on different aspects of human life, with a particular focus on Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
Participants began with an analysis of the current climate context, identifying key environmental challenges, vulnerabilities, and their effects on local communities. Discussions also mapped relevant stakeholders, including government institutions, civil society organizations, local communities, and international actors, highlighting their roles in climate action. The workshop explored potential interventions such as renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, water management, and climate education. Outcomes from the discussions will inform a draft climate justice advocacy roadmap, which will be reviewed by partners, published, and integrated into the CCDP to guide future advocacy efforts.
