Youth for Sustainable Action

Youth for Sustainable Action is a youth group made up of young people aged 12 to 35 years. Our members come from diverse backgrounds, including host communities, refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and youth from both urban and rural areas.
The group was trained and mobilized by IRO Organization, and many members have already participated in initiatives implemented by IRO and other NGOs.

Our members include students, graduates, and unemployed youth. Despite these differences, we are united by a shared commitment to positive change, sustainability, and youth participation.
While we receive guidance and mentorship from experienced IRO staff, we work as an independent and autonomous youth group, designing and implementing our own initiatives.

Youth for Sustainable Action has growing organizational and technical capacity. The group has:

  • A youth board responsible for planning, decision-making, and action
  • Experience in volunteering, awareness campaigns, and community engagement
  • Strong links with other youth groups and civil society actors

Our members receive hands-on training to understand:

  • Their rights and responsibilities
  • The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • How laws, policies, and governance systems affect their lives

We focus on building leadership, teamwork, and social skills, enabling young people to actively contribute to their communities and future development efforts.

Youth for Sustainable Action works on key challenges affecting communities, especially young people. Our main focus areas include:

Refugee and IDP integration through community engagement (SDG 10)

Environmental protection, climate change, biodiversity, and climate justice (SDG 13, SDG 15)

Green jobs and sustainable livelihoods (SDG 8)

Community-based actions and volunteering (SDG 11)

Advocacy for youth rights and community needs (SDG 16)

Environmental education and education for all (SDG 4)
